Mick George Sports Fund in conjunction with Living Sport

Ely City Hockey Club are thrilled to have received a grant for £1150 from the Mick George Sports Fund in conjunction with Living Sport to enable them to buy two new goalie kits for its Junior section.

With their Junior section having grown significantly over the last few years and with enough players to field both an U14 girls and U14 boys team, Ely City Hockey Club were desperately in need of Junior goalkeeping kit. An application to the Mick George Sports Fund proved successful and Ely City’s aspiring goalkeepers were delighted to finally have two sets of full protective kit that not only fitted but that also didn’t fall apart!

Head of Ely City’s Junior section David Carford commented ‘To be able to now have goalkeepers for both U14 teams, who are not only keen but who also show some real promise is fantastic and will enable us to play a wider range of teams at this level. Goalkeeping kit is not cheap but it is vital and we are really grateful to the Mick George Sports Fund for enabling this to happen. It is also great for the future of the Club as a whole, as ultimately we hope that our Junior goalkeepers will progress through into the adult teams.’
