“It takes a village to raise a child” so what does it take to run a hockey club?

In short, a dedicated group of volunteers. In addition to our wonderful captains, vice captains and umpires who help us get 6 teams out every Saturday, a host of others are needed to run the club and without which Saturdays just won’t happen. You don’t have to be a playing member to volunteer, we encourage parents, non-playing friends and family members to volunteer.

We currently have vacancies on the committee for club secretary and tournament organizers.

Club secretary is a key role for the club and is currently being filled in a temporary basis. Much of the pre-season work has already been done entering teams to East and informing England Hockey. Attendance at monthly committee meetings creating and circulating agenda and minutes is required. It requires someone who likes organising and can give a couple of hours a month. Our annual tournament needs a dedicated team of people to make this happen. If you are interested and need to find out more information, please contact the Club Chair for more information.

We also encourage anyone who is interested in coaching and umpiring and wants to be involved to help out. If you are interested, please get in touch. Volunteers also help out at social events and with the website and admin that comes with playing in a league.
Without enough volunteers the work needed is spread between fewer people and we already ask a lot of their time. If you’ve taken the time to read this, you probably have enough time to help out.
