ECHC L1 vs Bourne Deeping

After losing 3-1 against Bourne Deeping when the teams first met in September, it was clear that this game would be critical for both Ely and BD to achieve points towards the league.

BD had a strong start and moved the ball around the pitch well while Ely were slow to get going. BD took advantage of this by winning a short corner in first 10minutes of play, in which their captain scored from a powerful straight strike.

Ely fought back and put more pressure on. About half way through the first half, midfielder Emily delivered an accurate pass into the D from a free hit just outside the 25 yard line which made it through to attacker Jo ,who secured a solid finish into the goal, bringing the score to 1-1.

Ely had a couple more opportunities in the first half but unfortunately they were unsuccessful.

Despite not having any subs, it was clear Ely dominated the second half and consistently maintained possession in their offensive half of the pitch, winning at least 6 successive short corners. Pam executed some strong strikes, however the BD keeper and defence managed to hold Ely off and Ely unfortunately couldn't produce a winning goal.

Player of the match was awarded to Emily for her strength and consistency in getting the ball through to the forward line.

Despite gaining a much needed point from the draw it was evident that the team was disappointed not the bring a win home.
