Ely 1st team faced new opposition at the weekend when they faced Norwich City 2nd team at home for the first time ever and saw a well deserved win. Ely where expecting a tough game, due to a variety of illness and injuries and where strengthened at the very last minute by Gemma Neal. G’Neal soon proved her worth when she scored the first goal of the match from the top of the D with an excellent shot at goal that flew past the goal keeper. This early goal set Ely up for the rest of the match, despite determined attempts by Norwich to break down the Ely defence. This was a good all round team performance by Ely and the win has taken them to the top of the table. Player of the match went to Gemma Neal not only for her match winning goal but also for her tireless efforts in attack which saw her and Fiona Butler working together to perform numerous attacks on goal.
