ECHC L1 vs Sprowston 1

Ely arrive in good spirits after some questionable driving skills and relying on public transport for Pamela Clarke's flight to arrive on time fortunately for us it did!
Ely start well by moving the ball quickly, attacking down the left with dynamic link up play between Annie and Clarke.
Elys back 4 were quickly put under pressure as Sprowston weaved through them with some text book, one touch hockey. Ely side went quiet, panicked resulting in giving away a number of penalty short corners. Ely managed to hold their nerve and Sprowston were unable to covert.
Well into the first half Sprowston were able to captilise on a quick break which saw Ely keeper Kat Bamber face a top of the D straight strike which she was unable to keep out of the net.
Sprowston were awarded a short corner right on the half time whistle, Ely needed to keep their cool to ensure Sprowston did not increase their lead going into the 2nd half. Captain Chapman took it upon herself to take the full force of the straight strike, ending the 2nd half on the floor.

Ely come out in the 2nd half ready to improve on the 1st half. Forwards Milly and Fi Butler were quick to put on the pressure defending from the front pinning in Sprowstons defence. Ely worked hard as a team and began to talk, building the play through the solid midfield. Ely Ladies were unfortunate not to convert many chances in the 2nd half, if only there was another 10 mins I believe it would have been a different final score, especially with G'Neal resorting to actually standing in thier goal!!
