With the hockey leagues starting on 20th September Ely City Hockey Club are warming up with their Club day this coming Saturday 6th September.
Proceedings start at 10am with the younger Juniors – those in school years 1-5 - taking part in fun exercises followed by matches which parents are very welcome to join on. Older Junior players – those in school years 6 upwards – will be on pitch from 11am to 12 noon and Ely City are thrilled that Ryan Gray has agreed to run a special session for them.
Aside from coaching hockey at King’s Ely, Ryan plays for Southgate Hockey Club in the England Hockey National League, and has also represented New Zealand at International level. It will be a great opportunity for the Club’s juniors to pick up some hints and tips from a top hockey pro and find out a bit about Ryan’s journey as a player. It promises to be really inspiring for everyone who comes along.
The Club are also thrilled that Ryan will coaching some of the mens teams this coming season.
After a short break for lunch when the bar will be open in the Clubhouse, the adult mens and ladies will then play a series of interclub mixed matches from 1pm.
Anyone who is new to hockey or is interested in joining Ely City Hockey is very welcome to come along and join in on any of the sessions. Simply turn up and introduce yourself to a friendly face!
