Ely City Hockey Club Juniors performed brilliantly in the first inter-club festival of the season hosted by St Ives Hockey Club on Sunday 12th October.
Ely City U8s, U10s and U12s teams all played against teams from Cambridge City, Cambridge Nomads, City of Peterborough, St Ives, March Town and Wisbech hockey clubs in a round robin tournament in their different age groups.
All the Ely City teams played some great hockey and really highlighted the work that they had put in during training sessions. Both the U8s and U10s won 2 of their matches, drew 2 and lost 1 match. The two U12 teams won 6 of their matches, drew 1 and lost 1 between them.
Nick Wells, Ely City’s Juniors Officer, commented ‘It was fantastic to see 35 Ely City Juniors travel to St Ives and for all the teams to perform so well. The improvement shown by all the players is a testament to all the training that the coaches and juniors have done over the last few years - the juniors played with such confidence and with great game play. Everyone who played today should be extremely proud of themselves and we look forward to the next festival.’
