Junior Training

Julia Gilbert26 Sep 2020 - 22:45

We are looking to start training sessions from w/c 5th October subject to recruitment of helpers to assist the coaches

Thank you all for your patience but having trialled the new COVID-19 requirements on the adult section, we are now in a position to safely welcome back the Juniors!

We are looking to start training sessions from w/c 5th October. This is subject to recruitment of helpers to assist the coaches for which we are hoping some parents would be willing to volunteer. Full details and vacant roles are at the bottom of this email.

To allow us to implement the new COVID measures , we have had to change the session times slightly this year and they are as follows:

QuickSticks (Yrs 1-6) Tuesday 5.30-6.30pm

In2Hockey (Yrs 7-8) Tuesday 6:45-7:45pm

Teens (Yrs 9-13) Wednesday 7.30-8.30pm

We would like to encourage ALL teens to come along to the new Wednesday training session, even if they currently play in one of the adult teams as the sessions will be specifically geared towards them and also an opportunity to socialise and play with boys and girls of their own age. Of course players can go to both Teen and adult training (those boys who play for the adults can stay on afterwards and join the mens training session later if they wish).

There are some key points to note for all Juniors and parents:

1. ALL Juniors will need to have an England Hockey On-line Participation Agreement completed on their behalf, 48Hrs before their first training session https://customervoice.microsoft.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=NvkYmuiQxU--asEa8eSc6g-NqKCAUipGoe_luyiEaiZUMlE4NUVKRDZENzJGNUtNVEE5NVlXME9ETC4u If the form is not completed we will have to turn them away. In case of any query please bring along the confirmation email you receive to the first training session. This form only needs to be completed once

2. ALL Juniors need to join the Club via the website and create a Pitchero account. (Parents/Guardians create a log in first and denote they are a parent. Then it will automatically give the option to add your son or daughter as a player). This is very straightforward – simply go to elycityhockey.org and click on ‘Join’. Please fill in all the necessary information so that your account can be activated. Once completed we will be able to carry out the required track and trace registration. Once created, you can view all the Club info either via the website or via the Pitchero app. This replaces all paper membership forms so please complete all the details.

3. All Juniors aged 12 years and under must have a parent staying pitch side during the training session. This is an England Hockey COVID-19 requirement.

Vacant roles needing to be filled...

QuickSticks - 2 coach assistants & 2 helpers to register players arriving.

In2Hockey - 2 coach assistants & 2 helpers to register players arriving.

Teens - 1 coach assistant needed.

You don’t need any hockey knowledge to be a coach assistant and the sessions will be led and overseen by the coaches, but with the number of children we anticipate turning up, we need some help with the different groups whilst they are on pitch. Again if we don’t have enough help, we will have to cancel the sessions.

We do hope that we will see all those that have played Junior hockey in the past and apologise if this email sounds a bit officious but we are living in extraordinary times. The coaches all give up their time voluntarily and we need as many parents as possible to get involved and help with ensuring that our Juniors can return to hockey and train safely.

If you would like to volunteer either with the registration or on the pitch please reply back to juniors.elycityhockeyclub@yahoo.com with which session and what you would like to help with.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back on pitch!
