All be it a friendly, Ely Ladies 2s took no prisoners and beat Neots 3s with a convincing 3-0 win.
It was a promising first match back and sets the scene for what will hopefully be a successful season ahead.
Overall good team play, saw midfielders Dobbie, Emily and Molly linking up well with wingers Gemma Bridges and Ciara and centre forward Zara. Extra support from full backs Abi Day and Evelyn Parks allowed Ely to press high and pressure St Neots.
Ely took the lead just after half time with a solo run and precise strike from Charlotte Dobson beating the goalie and hitting the back board.
Solid defending and goalkeeping from Gemma, Karen and Abbie warded of any attempts from St Neots and with continued pressing and pressure Ely were able to capitalise on their control of the game by scoring two further goals. The second coming from a scramble in the D with Zara getting the final touch and the the third also coming from Zara after a double assist from Ciara and Gemma Bridges.
With no teas and no socialising after the match, we were unable to do player of the match. However, although a fantastic overall team performance and a tough choice to make but Captains player of the match goes to both Ciara Conley for her skilful play on the left and Zara Dighton, who played Centre Forward for the first time and scored 2 goals
