Winning start for Ely Ladies 2s

Ely Ladies 2s made a spectacular start to the 2021/2022 season with a convincing 3-0 win over Haverhill Ladies 1s

The ladies got of to a great start pressurising the Haverhill defence, before Gemma Bridges embarked on a brilliant run down the right wing, pulling the ball back across the goal and forcing an error from Haverhill who gifted Ely their first goal.

Ely continued to control the game and soaked up any counter attacks that Haverhill were able to pull together. Just before half time, Zara Gilbert was able to effortlessly attack down the left, weaving her way through the Haverhill defence and into the D before striking the ball and beating the Haverhill keeper, making it 2-0 to Ely.

Ely started that 2nd half much the same as the first. They continued to move the ball with some slick passing and with around 20 mins on the clock a cross into the D found the end of Kendle Putters stick who was able to control the ball before smashing it past the Haverhill keeper. A third goal for Ely and a well deserved first win of the season.

Player of the match went to Kendle Putter
