The second match of the season for Ely Ladies 2s saw them host St Ives Ladies 3s.
On a hot afternoon, Ely started spritely and after 12 minutes saw themselves take the lead with a well fought goal by Abi Day.
Ely continued to control the game well, attacking St Ives and creating their own chances. When St Ives countered on the break, Ely were able to deal with this and the 1st half ended with Ely having the upper hand.
The 2nd half saw Ely soak up a lot of pressure from St Ives as they attacked, but Ely weren’t without their own chances. Half way into the 2nd half, Ely were unable to fully clear from a short corner and St Ives were able to equalise. For the last 15 minutes, the match could have gone either way as both teams attacked and defended on equal levels. Both teams held their own and with the match ending 1-1 each team took a point and Ely saw themselves move to top of the league. So far, it’s been a great start to the season for Ely Ladies 2s.
Player and muppet of the match came from Mother Daughter duo, Abi and Julia Day. Abi got player of the match for her goal and Julia getting muppet of the match for spending a lot of time on the floor. Ely travel to Cambridge next weekend to take on Cambs City 6s Ladies XI
