Ladies 2nds faced top of the table Pelicans and were all prepared for a tough match. Ely started strong with a couple of great shots but pelicans were not going to give up so easily and started to press hard winning a couple of short corners all of which the Ely defence could handle. With only a couple of minutes left of the first half pelicans continued to push and right on the whistle won a short corner, the Ely defence not phased about facing the whole of the pelicans team and went out hard with keeper Kat Bamber clearing the shot, half time score 0-0. With a solid team talk from Emily Radcliffe at half time Ely were all set to go out hard in the second half although it seemed we left that thought on the side line at the start and let pelicans run straight at goal into the D, keeper Bamber also still asleep on the side line allowed what can only be classed as a very disappointing shot at goal. 1-0 Pelicans. This seemed to be the shake up Ely needed as they responded with an amazing counter attack with some lovely interlinking hockey from midfield and attack with Kendle Putter finding the back of the goal 1-1. This was a fair result with both teams battling hard for the win. Final score 1-1.
