Ely faced bottom of the league Cambridge Nomads and were determined this would be the week to leave the draws behind. After a strong talk before the game by stand in Captain Ali Woods, Ely started the game strongly with some excellent link up hockey. Ely had many opportunities to test the Nomad keeper but she proved her worth and stopped Ely from scoring. Not put off by the efforts of the keeper Ely kept battling and the first goal came courtesy of a reverse strike by Pamela Cornwall. 1-0 Ely. Nomads had a couple of breaks and chances but all were stopped by the Ely defence and Keeper. Ely kept the pressure on and not long before half time the second goal came thanks to the efforts of Emily James. 2-0 Ely. The second half saw Nomads come out stronger but Ely continued to keep the pressure on and prevent them from scoring. Final score 2-0 Ely and a much deserved win for the ladies 2nds who are still unbeaten and now sit 3rd in the league.
Player of the match went to Gemma Bridges and muppet of the match was jointly awarded to Ali Woods and Abi Day.
