On a freezing and extremely windy day Ely headed off to Kettering to have a hell of a match. Playing the top of league left a lot of anticipation within the team and drive to take them down.
The match then kicked off with Ely push back. Ely started strong on the attack and were applying great pressure on Kettering’s defenders. Unfortunately, Kettering just slipped through Ely mids and with some beautiful stick play struck right back onto Ely defenders. Some strong defence from Gemma, Fran, Riley and Ciaran continuing move the ball back to Ely’s mids. However, the ball managed to just nick past Ely’s defenders and past polly.
Once the second half started although Ely were one down they continued to put up a strong fight. However, Kettering were fighting harder and with some strong hits they managed to just slip past the Ely defence and ended up with a two vs one and two more goals went flying in. Ely were not going to give up though and with the continuous short corners Elys defence managed to pull through and bring it back to attack Kettering where Ruby scored a incredible goal while Sam set her up.
Ending the match 3-1. Ely are still standing strong and are as hungry as ever for a win next week.
