A midday start saw Ely come under immediate pressure from Cambs South, however catching Cambs South on the break, Ely Ladies were able to work the ball into the D and a far post knock in by Polly Cooper saw Ely take the lead after just 4 minutes.
Ely were unable to increase their lead despite having some opportunities to do so and with 10 minutes left of the first half, Cambridge South struck back, slipping the ball through the defence making it 1-1.
In the second half, Ely came under pressure from Cambs South and despite some good defending and great play in midfield Ely were just unable and unlucky not to be able to add any further goals to their tally.
Cambridge South however we able to score a second goal, catching Ely on the break and despite Ely not giving up, Cambridge South’s 3rd goal came with just 3 minutes before the final whistle.
At the midway point of the season, this is Ely Ladies 2nd loss which sees them sitting in 6th spot in the league.
