With the sun out, the Ladies 2s came hoping for a good match after a previous draw with St Neots. Unfortunately the team only had 10 players, including some from the 3s and 1s due to a lack of availability and injury from the usual team, meaning that they all hadn’t played as a team together before.

The game started off with St Neots soon securing a short corner, but it was defended and the mids attempted to take it up the pitch, using the wings. St Neots managed to slip past the defence despite some great hits by the defenders away from the goal, and the opposition scored 2 goals in the first half, while Ely’s attempts own attempts to score a goal were unsuccessful even with some good play in the D along with one short corner.

In the second half, Ely upped their game and had some more passing between the midfield and upfront. Despite the mids and forward’s perseverance, St Neots made more attempts on goal, and scored once more. Ely had some long runs up the pitch and gave it their all, even when they suddenly went down to 9 players as one went off for a few minutes due to leg cramp.

Overall, Ely lost 0-3, but the whole team worked really hard and had lots of possession and opportunities, and luckily should still stay above St Neots in the league. Player and muppet both went to Gemma Bridges, for face planting after a long run up the wing.
