Well let’s see, I often cannot remember what happened in a game three hours after the event (except we lost again) so as I am penning this three weeks after the event should ensure that all but the most essential points are documented.

For starters our glorious captain was continuing his skiing vacation, this possibly could have been snowboarding but given the delicate state of his ankles (well documented over the season) I doubt if this was the case! Moving on to the game our “team” was starting a period of trial and tribulation, still facing the daunting task of remaining in the league and avoiding relegation the prospect of playing the top three teams and actual coming away with some points looked dubious even if one was optimistic!

Mr Minns seemed to be standing in as captain this week and we all listened waiting for a highly charged team talk, highlighting our deficiencies and emphasizing our strengths. So we waited and waited and waited and waited, the two minute whistle went and we still waited…...

Did Mimmsy actually say something we are not sure but we shuffled into position and the game begun? The first half was uneventful whether we choked the opposition or we pulled them down to our level I am not sure but they were reduced to one chance and unfortunately for us scored.

Half time 0-1

The team talk was at best inspirational, all the normal stuff, still in this, competing well, keep it tight at the back, still in with a chance etc. etc.

We should have followed Mr Minns tactical knowse from the first period, the opposition seemed to be everywhere and within three minutes had scored twice, the first after my good self-made the initial save saw the rebound “cannon” back off a stick and trickle towards the goal hitting the post before being helped over the line. The second again after making the first save saw Shaun knee the ball back over me and into the goal.
MOM Moment (I have been told to put this in bold and emphasise)

Shell shocked we adopted Mr Minns team talk and things settled down, then came the MOM moment which I have been told I must include. C South player unmarked at the top of the “D” I promoted myself to defender and set off to intercept, with me well beaten the opposition flicked the ball towards the net it had goal written all over and…………………. up popped little Timbo who defected the ball over the bar and into the field (Tim please note it’s still there and needs picking up!!)

Well from what I can remember that’s about it apart from they scored again and we managed to pass to ourselves eventually for a consolation.
Hopefully we can do better next week against March (Top of the league) although I predict that we will lose 3-1! Let’s wait and see……………
